Special Collection: We will have a special collection for victims of the hurricanes on the weekend of October 26-27 (2024) at all Masses. There will be “Disaster Relief Fund” envelopes at the end of the pews that you can use for this collection.
Here is a reproduction of a letter from Bishop Fisher:
As our nation has seen the wide-spread destruction caused by Hurricane Helene across the southeast and Florida now braces for more devastation from Hurricane Milton, I am requesting parishes to take up a special emergency collection for Catholic Charities USA to assist in their response efforts. Many lives have already been lost and properties, including Church properties, homes and businesses have been severely damaged or destroyed. I ask that this collection take place as soon as possible to support the humanitarian, long-term recovery, and significant Church needs arising from these calamities.
Funds collected in this special appeal will be used to support the efforts of Catholic Charities USA as the local agencies respond to the immediate emergency needs for necessities as water, food, shelter, and medical care and aid in long-term rebuilding needs and recovery efforts. Funds will be used in response to the hurricanes, subsequent flooding, and will be distributed where they are most needed.
I know the generosity of our people and their deep care for those in need. I ask you to join me in continuing to offer prayers for families who have lost loved ones, are among those injured, and those who have lost their homes and livelihood. Please ask your community members to be as generous as possible.
With assurance of my grateful and prayerful best wishes, I am
Most Rev. Michael W. Fisher
Bishop of Buffalo

Fulton Sheen once wrote that the purpose of the Holy Hour — a sustained, uninterrupted hour of prayer in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament — is to encourage a deep personal encounter with Christ.
“Looking at the Eucharistic Lord for an hour,” he wrote, “transforms the heart in a mysterious way.”
Pope St. John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI, and Pope Francis all joined Sheen in recommending Eucharistic Adoration as a foundational spiritual practice.
St. Mary’s on Main Street in Arcade hosts Eucharistic Adoration every Thursday and Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
