Catholic Home Mission Appeal (April 2024)

Catholic Home Mission Appeal is April 27 & 28, 2024.

Many of us would be surprised to hear millions of Catholics are annually in need of assistance right here in the United States. Each year the US Conference of Catholic Bishops requests that we conduct a special second collection for the Catholic Home Mission Appeal. With your support yearly, we can continue to provide essential pastoral outreach in home mission dioceses.

This outreach ministry provides the resources to bring the Eucharist, Sacred Scripture and prayer to places outside our church walls, including hospitals and prisons.

Please consider being as generous in this appeal as you can to help strengthen the Church at home.

Your support on April 27/28 (2024) will truly make a difference.

Gather for Scripture Studies (2024)

Please note: May 21 and 24th (2024) will be the last ones as we prepare to take a summer break!

Deacon Jeff leads Scripture Studies on Tuesdays at 10:00 am in St. John’s Parish Hall. Come join us each Tuesday morning and learn about the background to Sunday’s readings. If you can’t make it on Tuesdays, Deacon Jeff also leads a scripture study on Friday mornings at St. Aloysius Parish Hall at 9:00 am. We look forward to you joining us!

Family Faith Formation Coordinator: Now Hiring (2024)

The Cattaraugus Creek Catholic Community is hiring a Family Faith Coordinator. This is a part time position requiring 12-15 per week.

The position pays $17.00-$20.00 per hour depending on experience.

You must be a practicing Catholic and have some teaching experience.

St. John’s Clothes Closet (Spring & Summer, 2024)

St. John’s Clothes Closet is now accepting clean, gently used Spring/Summer clothing and usable household items. Without your donations, we would not be able to help those in need. A sincere thank you for your donations.

Created to Relate Spring Book Club (2024)

Join us together as sisters in Christ to encourage, learn from, and pray for one another. Women have a natural gift for building life-giving relationships, and “Created to Relate” will show us how we can use our relational giftedness to live the Gospel fully and joyfully.

Join us on May 9th through June 13th (2024) as we launch this easy to use book study on God’s design for peace and joy. We will meet in a small group weekly on Thursdays from 9:00 am – 10:30 am to share thoughts from the book, reflections and insights. Please contract Tracey* by April 21st (2024) if you have questions or are interested in attending. We order the books together in order to save money.

Your friendships will never be the same once you understand why God created women!

St. Jude’s Holy Week Food Collection (2024)

The Chaffee Food Pantry is in need of pasta, grape & strawberry jelly, applesauce and canned fruit.

Please place offerings in the boxes in the vestibule at St. Jude’s.

There will be a Horse Pull & Chicken BBQ at St. Mary’s East Arcade Worship Site on Sunday May 19, 2024.

Spring Basket Raffle at St. Jude (2024)

St. Jude’s Parish will hold a Spring Basket Raffle with drawings at a potluck supper on April 6th (2024) following the 5 pm Mass.

Everyone is invited to the potluck supper, but ticket holders need not be present to win.

Tickets will be available for purchase after Mass on Saturday, March 23rd (2024), and Saturday, April 6th (2024).

If you wish to donate a basket or other item for the raffle, please leave it in the church basement by March 16th (2024).
