St. John Paul II Schola Cantorum presents “Palestrina 500: Celebrating the Quincentenary Birthday of a Great Catholic Composer.”
There will be two performances:
- Sunday, June 8 at 5:00 p.m. at St. Louis Church, 780 Main St., Buffalo
- Sunday, June 15 at 3:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Basilica, 767 Ridge Rd., Lackawanna
Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina was born in 1525 and is considered one of the greatest Catholic choral composers.
The program will feature some popular Palestrina choral works as well as some classic Eucharistic-themed motets by Durufle, Tallis, Lotti, Saint-Saens, Allegri and others.
